PlanoTek® CNB
PlanoTek® CNB is an innovative coating solution that has been specially developed for processing low and non-reinforced thermoplastics such as polypropylene (PP), polyoxymethylene (POM) and polyamide 6 (PA6) as well as thermosets. This coating is characterised by its excellent demoulding properties, which considerably facilitate the process of removing components from the mould. By using PlanoTek® CNB, the adhesion between the processed plastic and the mould surface is significantly reduced, resulting in smooth and efficient demoulding.
Another significant advantage of PlanoTek® CNB is the reduction of deposits. The processing of thermoplastics and thermosets can often lead to unwanted deposits and coatings on the mould surfaces. These deposits can impair the quality of the components produced and lead to more frequent cleaning cycles. Thanks to the special properties of PlanoTek CNB, the formation of such deposits is significantly minimised. The coating prevents the adhesion of plastic residues and makes it easier to clean the moulds, which contributes to higher productivity and process stability.
A notable feature of PlanoTek® CNB is the ability to significantly reduce the use of release agents. Release agents are often used to facilitate demoulding and reduce adhesion between the plastic and the mould. With PlanoTek® CNB, the need for release agents can be significantly reduced as the coating itself has excellent non-stick properties. This simplifies the production process, reduces the cost of release agents and improves the environmental footprint.
An additional advantage of PlanoTek® CNB is its emergency running properties. In the event of unforeseen malfunctions or lubrication failures, the coating provides temporary protection for the tool surfaces. This prevents costly damage to the tools and minimises production downtimes. The emergency running properties of PlanoTek® CNB therefore help to increase process reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
Overall, PlanoTek® CNB offers an effective solution for processing low- and non-reinforced thermoplastics and thermosets. By improving demoulding properties, reducing deposits, minimising the use of release agents and providing emergency running properties, this coating contributes to optimised production. Companies using PlanoTek® CNB can benefit from increased efficiency, quality and profitability in their plastics processing operations.
Planotek® CNB coatings are electroless nickel coatings that are enriched with hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) dispersion particles and offer a variety of outstanding properties. These coatings combine the high hardness, excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance of electroless nickel with the special sliding and lubricating properties of hBN.
Hexagonal boron nitride, also known as "white graphite", acts as a solid lubricant that ensures extremely low friction even under high-pressure conditions. In Planotek® CNB coatings, the hBN particles are evenly distributed in the nickel matrix, creating a self-lubricating surface that enables low-friction movements, minimises wear between contact surfaces and provides excellent emergency running properties. Especially when processing low and non-reinforced thermoplastics such as polypropylene (PP), polyoxymethylene (POM), polyamide 6 (PA6) and thermosets, Planotek CNB is an effective demoulding aid that significantly reduces the use of additional release agents.
The coating reduces adhesion between the mould and plastic, thereby reducing deposits and improving product quality. In addition, the low friction properties help to reduce machine stress and enable a more efficient production process with fewer interruptions and less maintenance. The uniform film thickness and excellent dimensional stability of Planotek® CNB make them ideal for precision applications. They adhere well to various substrates such as steel, aluminium and copper alloys, which increases their versatility.
Typical applications include pistons, bearings, valves, pump parts and other moving components where low friction, high wear resistance and emergency running properties are required. The thermal resistance of the coating remains stable, enabling its application in demanding environments. Overall, Planotek® CNB offers a high-performance coating solution that extends the service life of components, reduces friction and wear, and significantly increases the efficiency of machines and equipment.
